What People Say

Uday has been a sincere student of my Vedānta classes for the past twenty five years. I have been teaching since 1979. Though he was employed, young, married, with family and children, he took time to assimilate the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.

In the form of reflection and assimilation of the topic, he started analyzing the verses. He has his own style. Generally, the Bhagavad Gītā is explained verse by verse. Here in this book, it is explained concept by concept.

He used to come to me, ask doubts and also give his notes and analysis for checking. Initially it was a personal study. His ideas gradually developed and he decided to publish his study in a book form.

The uniqueness of this book is that he has presented the Bhagavad Gītā as what it really is, i.e. the practical application of Vedānta in daily life…

Masters Appreciating Gita Bodh

The Bhagavad Gītā is for that purpose. Every human being can live Vedānta in day to day life and solve by oneself, the various problems in life, mainly emotional, by studying and assimilating the Gītā from a teacher who follows the traditional method of teaching. I am sure that this book will help modern society to understand this subject easily, benefit from it and gain enough strength to face difficulties in life. I appreciate and congratulate Uday for the amount of efforts he has put in to bring this book in this form. I wish and bless for good readership for this book.

It was a great feeling when Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankarji reviewed the book ‘Gita Bodh’ with keen interest at his Bangalore Ashram in Jan, 2016. He appreciated the approach and even the get up of the book and blessed the book.

Shri Krishna, the author of Gita was not only a divine personality but also a divine diplomat. He had incarnated to connect individual consciousness to collective consciousness. To accomplish his mission he had to uplift the mountain of human ego. He succeeded in his task by devising the art of diplomacy. However, in modern times as the human brain has further evolved to a 4 G dimension the task has become even more difficult and cannot be accomplished without the guidance of a realized master who is collectively consciousness. Fortunately Shri Uday Karanjkar's Gita has brought the guru to our door step through his easy- to- read hand book which equips us to penetrate Shri Krishna’s diplomacy.

In the age of e-learning Shri Karanjkar has simplified the task of the novice by painstakingly visualizing the key points. Such visualization is not possible without the opening of the inner eye. Apart from being a great visionary Shri Karanjkar is an Acharya too; those who have the privilege of knowing him are honoured to have the darshans of the great Rishi behind an unassuming personality. His hand book on the Gita is a must for teachers and libraries.

It is not my cup to write a review or something but when I actually started reading the ‘Gita Bodh’ I couldn’t stop myself appreciating it page by page and chapter by chapter. It's very tempting to write but rather hesitatingly, I shall try to put my feelings in to words. It may not be very critical review but I am short of words for your extraordinary efforts for creating such a piece of learning.

First and the foremost is the cover page and visual conceptualisation. I have seen many writers using the visuals to simplify the intricate concepts but you have taken it to new heights.

Secondly, the approach. Topic wise and concept by concept presentation, so that anybody irrespective of his background can understand the wonderful concepts of this great book. For the serious readers or for the one who really wants to know the reality behind this life, for such an aspirant this book will be of great help. For example chapters like Self, Jiva and Jivadasa, A Bhogi can make an aspirant introspective and will create a sense of enquiry about The Self. After reading these chapters he will also understand that life is something more than आहार, निद्रा, भय, मैथुन! And then an aspirant will get the answers from subsequent chapters.

Even Bhagvan Shri Krishna must be proud of this work. Any body from 15 year old can read and understand this book. Excellently written & brilliantly pictorial, it is never boring to read. The examples given in this book are contemporary for better understanding the concepts of Gita in today's context. The Conversation between Arjun and Bhagvan Shri Krishna is a sequence of questions thought and asked by Arjun & may not be our sequence. This book has solved that problem beautifully by re-presenting the Gita in a conceptual manner. This book has completely changed my life & I too have become a seeker of 'The Ultimate Truth'. It has been aptly said in the book that 'The right time to read the Gita is NOW'. I am writing this review after 2 years of reading the book & it is the fourth time I'm reading this book. Hence you will agree that this is not a hasty review. This is the best gift one can give to their loved ones. Thank you Udayji.

Written simply, illustrated beautifully and supported by interesting examples and stories which drive home the point, Gita Bodh is a book you don’t feel like putting down. It gives a clear explanation about oneself, creation, God and the Ultimate Truth, the purpose of life, the method to achieve it, Dharma, Viveka, various yogas like Karmayoga, Jnanayoga, Dhyanayoga, Bhaktiyoga and their role in one's evolution. The book explains that the concept of the Gita goes way beyond the limitations of time, place, people, culture and religion. The presentation is structured with appropriate summaries of each chapter for recap, which helps one get a clear and precise understanding. The illustrations, binding and production quality are superb! A great value for money. A must-read for everybody. Also, great for gifting!

This book has made a unique contribution to this space. Author has presented, full gist of all the topics covered by Bhagvad Gita arranged in a logical sequence and presented in contemporary language with beautiful illustrations. Each topic is mapped to the verses in Gita. This book, with its unique style and presentation is a great starting point (to the subject matter of Gita) for the modern generation who have no knowledge of Sanskrit or the temperament to digest verse by verse commentaries on Gita. It can also serve as a contemporary alternative to the traditional content available on this body of knowledge. Besides the presentation quality, binding, paper, color schemes make it a treat to the eyes as well !!! A must buy!!!

Incredibly beautifully and lucidly written, explained and illustrated to support the text. My namaskar to you for the years of research, contemplation and huge effort and devotion to bring this to fruition! Thank you for bringing out Gita Bodh, certainly the work of a lifetime, and in helping make the most important thing of life yet the most difficult, into an easily comprehensible form.

Gita Bodh is a very lucid and illustrative exposition of the philosophy of the Bhagvad Gita. The most interesting part is the approach which the author has taken towards this book. Rather than the verse by verse commentary that is usually seen in other books on the Gita, Mr. Uday Karanjar has explained the Gita concept by concept. Hence even a completely uninitiated reader, who is interested to understand the philosophy of the Gita, would be delighted to read it. The book also explains concepts with contemparary examples making the book very relevant to today's world. Tha language is lucid, simple and supported with umpteen illustrations and examples. Gita Bodh is a very helpful guide for anyone trying to make sense of her/his life and for those trying to seek answers to the more fundamental questions of life...!

The book is an absolute revelation on how complex concepts can be explained in a manner that a common person can understand and follow. The language used by the author is extremely simple and has assumed at all times that no stone is left unturned while explaining an entity / subject. Concepts like “Sat, Chit , Ananda”, “Brahman”, “Maya”, “Moksha” are very well documented. The illustrations used to describe the complex entities are very crisp and clear. The entire path of Karma Yoga has been vividly described referring to day to day examples. Transition to JnanyaYoga and ultimately BhaktiYoga is a pleasure to read and follow. A book of this lucid fluidity should be made into a subject for young adults to embrace very early on in life. Simple talks of “meditation” are not very easy to convince the millennials to embrace a philosophy that has been part of our culture for so long. But since the author has tackled complex topics so objectively that young minds will not find it difficult to create a logical mapping and soon embrace the subject wholeheartedly. The references made to shlokas in each chapter from the “Bhagwad Geeta” are very useful too. I would once again like to congratulate the author on so successively tackling this vast ocean of priceless pearls and bringing it on a silver platter for all to enjoy.
